Blog Post 6: English Language Challenges

Hello everyone, today I'm going to talk about English class.

To begin with, I feel very happy that we are already finishing the subject but sad at the same time. I am happy because it is a weight off my mind in relation to my academic load and because I really learned, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank the professor; and I am sad because I will probably have a different English teacher next semester.

Regarding my experience with this subject, it was very nice, I really enjoyed the classes and especially that the teacher made us participate because I feel that involving students in learning is the best way to learn. Although I always find it very difficult to participate and leave shame behind, especially in English because I just don't handle it very well and I'm afraid of making mistakes, but I accept it as part of the learning process.

I also find that writing blogs, our weekly assignment, is a good learning strategy because it’s an opportunity to apply the lessons learned during the week and we get to practice our overall English skills. Although there are times when I get tired of it, I know for sure that without this task the learning process would take much longer. I would say I have a love-hate relationship with the weekly assignments, because I know they are useful but then I get tired of them.

What I need to learn the most is time management, that’s something that I definitely need to work on. It's what I struggle with the most and what limits me from being able to write and speak in English. I think I can improve it by paying more attention in classes that teach these things and then applying it so that I don't forget how to.

Outside of English class I speak very little of the language, but I do read and listen to a lot of things in English, especially on social media. I read publications, I listen to music and I watch tons of videos where they speak in English

To finish, I am grateful for what I learned.
